Blue Onion

Blue Onion
watercolor   © Cynthia Allman   SOLD

Here is something from the "archives".  Way back in the roaring '90's, I was fascinated with painting lace.  Battenburg... fancy swirly Irish lace... and this piece, which is some sort of cutwork cloth.  It's all done with negative painting (paint the holes, not the cloth) and a whole lot of planning ahead.

  1. I am SO impressed. You have proven it really can be done beautifully without frisket.

  2. This is beautiful, I like the delicate shadows, especially the shadow from the blue bottle.
Seeing this makes me want to pull out my watercolors again. Thanks for sharing this.
