The majority of this odd assemblage of objects belonged to my late mother-in-law.  She was an enthusiastic collector of antiques, a passion we both shared.  It was only after I completed the painting that I realized how much of her is reflected in this work.

Reflections are fascinating to paint and frankly, why I choose certain objects for my paintings.  My collection of metal teapots was started by serendipity. A long forgotten box of dusty teapots found in my mother-in-law's attic was on it's way to becoming fodder for an upcoming garage sale.  I saw subjects for paintings and my teapot series was born.

Holiday Home Tour

Included in the tour of historic Medina homes were 

three on East Liberty...

A Western Reserve version of the Greek Revival (above) 

was built in 1845.

(Below) A former stagecoach driver and railroad agent 

built this 1878 Italianate home in the most 

modern style of the day.

(Above) The proprietor of the American House, 

Medina's finest hotel at the time, constructed 

this Greek Revival in 1855.

(Below) An Arts & Crafts century home on Lafayette Road, 

built in 1912, features prominent oak woodwork, 

beveled and leaded glass and stained glass windows.  

 (Below) An 1860 home on South Court Street reflects 

a careful restoration of the house and gardens, 

including period details 

added by the current owners.

This 1882 Victorian church building replaces 

an earlier 1833 brick church. 

(Below) The historic Munson House on South Prospect, 

home of the Medina Community Design Committee, 

the organizers of the Holiday Home Tour.

This home was originally located on South Washington Street 

and in 1984, was saved from the wrecking ball by the CDC 

and moved to its current location.

Preservation Awards

Every October, the Medina Community Design Committee presents Historic Preservation Awards to a select group of Medina homeowners "who best exemplify the principles of historic preservation".  

 The pen & ink artwork is used on the award certificate 

presented to the homeowner.
