Here is something from the "archives". Way back in the roaring '90's, I was fascinated with painting lace. Battenburg... fancy swirly Irish lace... and this piece, which is some sort of cutwork cloth. It's all done with negative painting (paint the holes, not the cloth) and a whole lot of planning ahead.
I am SO impressed. You have proven it really can be done beautifully without frisket.
